We used the method of reversal where reality doesn’t match what you think. On the one hand, the burglar turns out to be a nice girl; on the other hand, the location turns out to be a film set inside a studio. For this, we built a set of modular roofs and facade parts, with a big LED screen behind it showing Amsterdam’s city center at night and emitting it’s light to partially light the foreground set.

Creating Credibility
A burglar sneaks across a rooftop in downtown Amsterdam at night and enters an open window. Inside, a sleeping boy is startled awake by the intruder…
A thief in the night?

The use of smoke, glass and a so called wetdown that boosts reflections, all elements that are normally difficult to achieve when working with green or blue screen for VFX, can now be used freely and can even be pushed to enhance the sense of realism. The LED-background shows everything in realtime to the entire crew, so collaboration between all creative stakeholders is hugely improved in comparison to shoots where backgrounds need to be added later in post-production.
Creators of Credibility
Our primary goal is to show producers (and other filmmakers) how credible ICVFX is. Using a LED wall is sustainable, safe and controllable. It sometimes even offers a better alternative than filming on location!
The second goal is to trigger clients with our expertise. The payoff “Never rely on your first impression” implies that the audience should think about their perception of shooting on location and invite them to consider ReadySet Studios.
We want to help you Create credibility. But also create sustainable and efficient.
